F山荘は蓼科に近い別荘開発から残された大きな森の一角に計画したカフェ+別荘である。敷地は南北の奥行きが深く東西の間口が狭い、道路がある北側から南に向かって緩やかな傾斜地で、建物は適度な間隔で生い茂る樹木をよけながらジグザグする筒状の形として計画した。くの字の1階と2階がズレて重なり、北側にピロティ、南側にテラスを配置し、その中央にカフェ客席と水回りが重なって枝状に取り付く、諸条件を勘案した結果最も合理的なプランとなった。カフェ、客席、生活空間を最小限にまとめたが、森の静けさ、豊かさを享受できる計画とした。
The F Villa is a café and vacation home planned within a large forested area remaining from a villa development near Tateshina. The site has a deep north–south depth with a narrow east–west frontage, gently sloping from the road on the north toward the south. The building was designed as a tubular form that zigzags to avoid the densely growing trees while maintaining adequate spacing.
The first and second floors are offset in a kinked arrangement, with a pilotis on the north side and a terrace on the south. At the center, the café seating and service areas are stacked, branching out according to various site conditions, resulting in the most rational plan. While the café, seating, and living spaces are minimized, the design allows occupants to fully enjoy the quiet and richness of the surrounding forest.
